He had zero chance of going to hall of fame if he stayed in Dallas
And it's not like he was in a bad situation. It was the fastest pace team in league with a very talented cast (he left and their record actually improved)

He was 21 years old when bron came back. People act like his game peaked already and there was no way Cleveland could ever win with him as the main guy
