He has no real talent. He rode the wave of Babyface and Darryl. That's why him and Babyface stopped being cool because he was getting credit and money as a writer and producer and was nothing more than a manager. DS is on record saying he never really liked LA or trusted him.

Noticed he didn't produce a record or write a song since 1993? That's the year Babyface dropped him.

The label was made in 1989 and there was paperwork already. They haven't actually worked together like be in an actual studio together since 1993.
