It’s the only way to deal with someone as dishonest and dishonorable as Trump. You can’t take him as his word. The best tactic is to diminish him politically by turning his loyal base against him by inflicting economic pain.

The only problem with this is that it's impossible to turn Trump's base against him :yeshrug: they see economic hardship as acceptable collateral damage to maintain white supremacy.

It's one of those things where nothing much changes for Trump but everybody else loses :francis:

That's made domestically. Go through your Amazon order list and see which Chinese made products you can't live without.
We are also in a trade war against the Europeans, Mexicans and Canadians. So food prices and other stuff is heading up too.

Maybe Americans will stop buying a bunch of crap they can't afford now. Setting up an economy based solely on consumption and massive amounts of debt was bound to fail. Once other countries stop loaning you money.
:yeshrug:

The Trump administration says cheap goods aren’t part of the American dream. They’re wrong.

Cheap Consumer Goods Are the American Dream, Actually

Americans' credit card debt reaches new record high: New York Federal Reserve

It's not in the government's interest to have a bunch of broke ppl hungry and not distracted

You maybe right, but I think China is willing to put their loyalty to the test.

A few weeks ago, I expected that he would walk back the tariffs and China would let him claim some empty victory and things go back to normal. Now? I’m not so sure China is in the mood for his bullshyt games.

I suspect China will drag out the war with the aim of demonstrating to the American people, the real consequences of a trade war. Once the American people understand the consequences of trade wars, normal trade can resume with a politically damaged and diminished Trump.

It’s the only way to deal with someone as dishonest and dishonorable as Trump. You can’t take him as his word. The best tactic is to diminish him politically by turning his loyal base against him by inflicting economic pain.

Americans have proven they don’t have the stomach for prolonged and costly unnecessary wars, so why not take a page out of Vietnam and Iraq wars?
I think you are right and I expect it to be more than just China. He’s too erratic to make nice with, and it’s clear he wants to run shyt in a way that is bad for everyone except for him alone.

We’ll see how people feel in about a month when the real effect of this trade war kick in as supply either jumps up in price or just runs out. It’s a brexit type situation and no one voted for it, so I think it will be really unpopular.

Stagflation is still very much coming. Layoffs and unemployment are already up, and Trump being an a$$hole is adding another bill to people by requiring loans start collecting next Month. It’s all so very stupid and by default Trumpian.
