He’s honoring him by covering his songs; not biting his rhymes and acting like he’s spitting some rhymes that he didn’t write and acting like it’s his
It's not a common practice to advertise and have an entire show where you are doing someone else's stuff. Not that I care but it's kinda weird.

that's true

but maybe it should be when it comes to honoring someone and helping to keep their memory and work alive

to me, and i don't know, but to me, it seems like yasiin is doing this out of his love, respect and admiration for DOOM and his music.

Yeah totally, but he is gonna be a more scrutinized MC now because he crapped on a really popular one. Not sure it was worth it now he can't do anything that's not traditionally Hip Hop or people are going to call him a hypocrite.

Do you really think Mos Def will even be aware of what’s being said about him on social media, podcasts and blogs? Even if he was I don’t get the sense he would care.

that's true

i don't think he really cares about being criticized for his opinion

yasiin been sorta operating outside of the current melting pot of hip hop for a long time now. the move with luminary for the black star album, the move with his solo album Negus being in the Brooklyn museum. he been doing shyt on his own terms since the 2010's now. he's very selective with when he chooses to participate when it comes to music these days.

i think the biggest flaw with hip hop these days is. a lot of cats be thinking you hating when you have a different opinion or view on things. or if you're opinon doesn't gel with the popular opinion.

He went a bit further than 'having a different opinion'. He crapped on someone's entire career. That's kinda hating, he could have been more diplomatic in his criticism.
