thing is, most women ain't gonna marry a guy who doesn't have disposable income FOR a ring ...since it symbolizes that the first three are already covered

I would want the ring it doesn't have to be fancy if we were trying to save. It can always be upgraded later. But I like the symbolism.

I don't see anything wrong with having a "symbol" of your engagement or whatever but I wouldn't want a guy to borrow money or break himself financially to give me a ring.

Edit: to answer the question yes I would accept engagement without a ring.
