Because people seem to think their future will be predicated by their past which isn't the case. They no longer have Jerry West who could spot a high school kid and knew he'd be a franchise player. The same Jerry West also convinced Shaq to sign there. Think of where that franchise would be without those 2 huge gets by Mr.West. Now look at where they're at, can't even convince Dwight to take more money to stay there and they're a team in the luxury tax trying to tank. So they're living off their past which was great but one man was responsible for most of the greatness and that's Jerry West.
Take away all his contributions to that franchise and what do they have? They no longer have him and Kobe can no longer save them. So what now?

What you described isn't the Lakers being overrated
You're describing how you feel the fan base may be off base with their thinking. Just know that your feelings may be off base too breh. Also remember that we won rings before West and after West, just because he is running your fav team is why you're repeating his name over and over, with hopes and prayers that his magic will work out for y'all like it did the Lakers. Oops! Did I say magic? Naw, not that "Magic" that won TWICE with Kareem before West became the GM in 82-83 . See West didn't make the Lakers, they were made way before he arrived, it was written. Take away his contributions and the Lakers STILL outshine you in everything, because y'all didnt win shyt since.......wait for it..........1975! I see hurt, anger and jealousy with a false sense of Championship hopes in your posts, the evidence is you being "happy" as long as your team is in a better place than the Lakers, let's see how long that lasts........even West can't save you from being the Tito Jackson of California.

One thing about your team though is you have a bridge ( competitive team) but that bridge isn't sturdy enough to stretch across the ravine to reach a championship.
