The Los Angeles Times reports on another name to add to the Lakers' list of potential head coaching candidates: University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams:

Williams declined to be interviewed for the job in 2004. GM Mitch Kupchak is a graduate of UNC, and has always leaned toward interviews with Tar Heels players and coaches.
It would be an interesting choice, but you wonder how Kobe Bryant would react. If the Lakers are going to get a college coach, wouldn't Bryant want them to convince Williams' rival coach Mike Krzyzewski?
Williams' pick-and-roll-heavy offense might be a better fit at the next level. Either way, there's no indication Williams is interested in the gig. Expect a lot of candidates for a high-profile, high-reward job, after Mike D'Antoni resigned last month.

Basically...neither party is interested.
