Reports are that Kobe is weeks away from returning to the Lakers.

Currently, LA sits at 9-9 and just 1.5 games behind Golden State for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

How much of a difference do you think the Mamba will make as the 2nd half of the season approaches?

We would be a couple games above .500 if Kobe was around to help close out the games. We're definitely a playoff team but until we resolve the issue of interior defense and constant injuries that's all we'll be.

It's early in the season still. But 9-9 isn't so bad if you compare that record to all teams in the NBA East.

Fight for an 8 seed.Lose in 5 in the 1st round if they make it, sign rudy gay, melo or deng next summer and lose in the 2nd round for the next 2 years fade to bolivia like they did from 92-96 then rebuild

If kobe was playing the lakers Would not be .500 they'd be 6-12

I agree that they'd be a playoff team with Kobe.
At 9-9, I have to think they'd be in that middle-of-the-pack range in the West.

Oklahoma City is 13-4.
The Clippers are 12-7.

LA has lost 4 games by 6-points or less.
I have to imagine Kobe helps them win those games. Putting them around 13-5...around 4th place.

I don't think LA goes on some insane 12-game winning streak once Kobe returns, but I think they slowly creep into that 5th spot in the standings by year end.
If he's healthy.

How do you figure they'd be worse?
