They got a small shot vs the Hornets on the 9th, if they don't get it there their next best chance is the Pelicans on the 12th, if they can't catch the Pelicans they won't see the Wolves until Nov 28th


Their schedule is brutal

They should have moved Pau last year
They never should have re-signed Hill

Their reluctance to pull the trigger on those two moves and giving Jordan Hill $9 mill a year is why they are where they are

Imagine what could be in LA if we had competent ownership/management. Dallas with Dirk who is a more aged and less effective player than Kobe by far, yet they are once again the team nobody wants to play in the West

1) Dirk's the same age as Kobe and at WORST equally effective in 2014.

2) Dirk also took way less money than he could have, enabling Dallas to have the flexibility to go get talent. And he has a rep as a guy you wanna play with. He and Kobe are essentially opposites in these two aspects and those differences are gonna be reflected in the respective seasons their teams are gonna have this year.

1. I'm talking about both player on their declines and their effectiveness during that period. Kobe in 2013 before the injury was playing some of his best ball and putting up top 5 player stats (sometimes stats dont lie ) If they managed him and put players around him like Dirk maybe he wouldn't have played all those minutes.

2. Kobe's contract is obviously gigantic but it's not accurate to say that it is even a top 5 factor in the current woes of the Lakers. Whether players want to play with Kobe or not (who knows?), the fact of the matter is players want to play for strong teams, and a team coached by D'antoni for that long with no sense of direction is not going to attract FA's. I don't care if nice guy Dirk is the centerpiece. Dirk being "nice" has less draw than Cuban as an owner, great fans and the brilliant coach Carlisle

I couldn't agree more. Somewhat related ; I always hated that fakkit Nick Young. Lakers fans think the whole "Swaggy P" thing is some kind of trivial distraction while we we're tanking but it was the main reason I stopped watching. How could you not see the serverity of a back up SG who does not try at both ends of the ball, smiles and laughs while losing blow outs and turns the game into a circus act and just think "ha ha there he goes"? A man who leveraged his horrendeous play on the Lakers into a social media career. A dude who literally did not give a single fukk about the games if not only to do his buffonery and get laughs. He drew attention to the Lakers and revenue and that's basically endemic of the shortsighted management of Jim Buss and Co. His father saw the big picture and this fakkit just wants to be on the big screen.

Im not saying Kobe was wrong for taking all that money but the shyt was pretty much a done deal when he did. Cant have your cake and eat it too. And as much as Laker fans tried to convince themselves they would still somehow be competitive (only to do a typical 180 as soon as the season started ) it was obvious that it was gonna play out this way from the beginning.
