Well I stand corrected on West.
Shaq is iffy to me, a HoF, but was he there long enough to receive this honor from the Lakers. Just my think though.

It doesn't seem like it, but Shaq was a Laker for eight seasons. I think some people forget he was here three seasons before the three-peat.

I remember Shaq and I'm a fan of the Eddie Jones , Van Exel, Shaq years.
Its just when I think of building a statue for a player, I think of a player that is tied with that franchise, not retiring a number or something, but statue that person needs to be synonymous with the franchise, and I don't look at Shaq as a Laker through and through.

He is always going to be a Magic player to me, who went to the Lakers.

I think when it comes to viral levels, Shaq on the Magic was more impactful. Everyone was sporting Orlando Magic jerseys in the early-mid 90's because of Shaq.

That said, Shaq was a Laker for twice as long, had his prime here and also helped bring home a 3peat.

Basketball reasons to me he was a Laker.
