Honestly Lakers management has been awful at building a winning team since the 2013-14 regular season. It started with Kobe's injury and since then management hasn't had a consecutive streak of winning seasons since 2005-06 up until the 2012-13 season (the year Kobe got injured and we lost to the Spurs in the first round).

Check this out over the course of 10 seasons these have been the Lakers regular season records...

2013-14: 27-55 (miss playoffs)
2014-15: 21-61 (miss playoffs)
2015-16: 17-65 (miss playoffs)
2016-17: 26-56 (miss playoffs)
2017-18: 35-47 (miss playoffs)
2018-19: 37-45 (miss playoffs, at the very least we could've made the postseason if Bron didn't get hurt against GS)
2019-20: 52-19 (on pace to win 55+, #1 seed and winning championship)
2020-21: 42-30 (#7 seed, 1st round exit)
2021-22: 33-49 (miss playoffs)
2022-23: 43-39 (#7 seed, WCF appearance, swept by Nuggets)

2023-24: We're currently 25-25 (9th in the West, pending outcome).

Out of the last 10 years the Lakers have only had 3 winning seasons, one really if you wanna go by championships rather than playoff appearances since winning the chip is what this franchise is all about in the grand scheme.

Ownership hasn't been investing in a winning team since the (pre injury) Kobe years.

It started long before Bron came we just thought his presence alone would fix the problem but honestly it's management who has been lackluster dating back to the start of the 2013-14 campaign.
