If it was your mother or sister being harassed by this lunatic, you'd want bystanders to intervene. IMO in some cases, intervening is the right thing to do. In other cases (like in many domestic situations) it compounds and escalates the problem. It's a case by case thing and it requires wisdom and proper judgement to know when to do what.
In this particular case, I think that the brother in the story did the right thing by intervening, but he shouldn't have escalated the situation (which he did by trying to fight the dude).
You brehs cry about demons ruining the community, cacs this and that, but your attitude breeds a culture of cowards. The culture needs real masculine values to return and sometimes, that requires putting your life on the line for the sake of principles and truth. As a man, your own safety has to take a back seat at times. Not saying you should be a crash test dummy, of course you need to be wise about it. But don't be a coward either.
