All i can say is that I don't think this kid was "mentally ill"

Was he crazy by the standards set by his community and society at large? Yes. definitely.

That's why I mentioned the people living in the Taiga region, they have no instances of mental illness, and I bet it's similar for most tribal peoples. A simple life is easy on the brain, everyone has a purpose and function (hunting, cooking food, getting water, etc). how does living in a state with millions of people personally affect you when you only come in contact with an extremely small minority of those millions on a daily basis?
