If a man does not have the confidence to approach lil' ole harmless me, will he have the confidence to ask his boss for a raise, to start his own business, to protect his wife/family/home, etc.?

and what if all the men sat back as well and said that they prefer women who are confident enough to go for what they want in life?

If that is what they prefer but most men would go after the women that they truly desire.

Yes, I am old fashioned about not approaching men and I have never suffered for it. The sexiest thing ever is for a shy/reserved/quiet guy to go after the girl that he really wants. I had a great relationship with a very shy yet very intelligent guy who stepped out of his comfort zone because he strongly desired to get to know me.

I'm not a man, I'm a woman. A woman who believes in traditional gender roles. So while I personally have the confidence to have my own business, earn an advanced degree, own real estate, etc....I need the man in my life to have the same confidence because he will be the head of our household.

I watched the CNN press conference the other day and they talked about his previous contact with the police. He was in hospital after getting beat up and he wanted to press charges. But it turned out he actually started the fight and no charges were brought up. The other time was when one of his roomates stole lamps off him that were worth like 20 bucks and he wanted to press charges. Did it say anything about this in his manifesto?

Why is it taking so long to dig up his criminal past? :mjpls:

Oh they'll ask for that raise or send that job application and risk rejection .:mjpls:

But approaching a guy? Nope. :mjpls:

Personally I think the problem with society is multifold, ranging from rampant capitalism to the cultural myths that so many people fall for. But that's just me.

I can agree with this.

@CM_Burns

What I find interesting is how this dude was classist and extremely entrenched in materialism and "things", shallowness. he equated materialistic things to being able to get what he wanted and having a better life but then claimed:

"Social classes are evil, and lead to tragedies such as this. Humanity needs to unite as equals."

This dude grew up apart of the rich, privileged "American Dream". Yet he hated on those he felt were spoiled.
I think this comes from the idea he felt robbed by the same American dream he was brought up in "bought into" or was taught.. hence, the entitlement. he resented it and spoiled people because he felt cheated and tricked by it himself.

The same people who say things like "this dude was rich, had a BMW! Wasn't really ugly. He had everything! He coulda gotten laid, easily" Don't even realize they are playing into the same things.

I think that reddit poster, pointed out something interesting with these deranged killers that could be related, who happen to have such an interest in WoW

"IMHO, the mechanic of grinding/questing toward achievements is a comforting one to people who have a limited frustration tolerance. The great advantage of WoW and RPG's have a fairly linear growth structure: Do X to Get Y. As jokes like/r/Outside show, reality has no such linear structure: you Do X, you may not Get Y, but instead Get Z or Get Nothing."

His entire line of thinking was because he has X, he will get Y. The entitlement to Y because he played by the X rules but felt robbed of Y. The achievement of having X.

This guy felt he was playing by the rules he interpreted that would lead him to happiness, feeling accepted and loved by having the "if I have __ I will achieve __" and it never happened and he felt robbed. But he was still entrenched in materialism, objects and things that represent a higher social class as it seems he knew no other way to define himself, yet it tore him up inside. He put those things on a pedestal to what he perceived would achieve his goal of feeling loved and adored but he had no empathy towards human beings.

That says a lot.

also, I think it's worth noting how his mom bought him a lot of shyt, and his parents didn't seem too exactly involved or attentive towards him. He wanted his mom to marry a richer guy, and claimed it would make his life better. When he was upset, his mom bought him a BMW thinking it would make things better for him. he felt his last hope was winning millions of dollars on the lottery and that would rid him off his women problems.

I notice this alot with rich families with kids...especially considering I grew up in a very affluent suburban neighborhood.

rather than, you know, actually being a parent and giving advice and being in their lives...they substitute it with money and material objects as if that's gonna make them happy...nah. That leads to spoiled people who don't value the hard work and determination it takes to get what they want.

I will admit, I have been glued to this case simply because (like others have said) this guy is an interesting case study.

What I've learned from him?: Be humble and take chances. Seems like he couldn't be humble...or didn't know how to be. He also seemed to be deathly afraid of rejection as if it was personal.

With that said...I can't sympathize with Elliot at the end of the day because he took the lives of 10 innocent people for no reason.
