Ya'll acting like this dude is 7"3.

There are a lot of 6'7" nikkas who are bums in the NBA and many who don't make it. Look in the G-League. Look overseas. Look in the college ranks.

Also, being highly ranked in HS means shyt. It just means you have the tools, but if not properly polished, it doesn't matter.

You can go back the last twenty years, and find dudes who were top 10 players in the country who washed out quickly.

LaMelo isn't a lock for shyt if he doesn't properly develop, and it doesn't help that he has taken a COMPLETELY unorthodox path, WITH Lavar as his father.
Being ranked high in HS means damn near everything when it comes to draft. Why do you think Giles got drafted?..brandon jennings?...the list goes on

If he doesn't make the NBA he'll have a more than solid Euroleague career

Why are you talking about something I'm not talking about?

I'm talking to the notion that he'll be a star, and getting drafted highly or being highly ranked does not guarantee that in the least.

He has no tape. He's not getting drafted.

He has tape from playing in Europe last season (where he scored 20+ against Euroleague teams) and will be playing in Europe again the next 2 seasons. There'll be plenty of tape.

Bruno Caboclo got drafted 20th and he had one highlight on a grainy tape where u couldn't tell which pixel he was. if you're talented, they'll find you.

Guy played in the Premier Brazil League though. Wasnt exactly as many question marks about his ability to play.

It's weird how people think different rules apply to these Ball kids.

People were saying Gelo would get drafted despite the fact he was on literally NO team's radar coming out of HS. NBA teams are already aware of you before you enter college. They said he wasn't even a remote option. That changed because he dropped out of school and moved to Lithuania?

Melo is more talented than Gelo, but he is a complete project at this point. He isn't getting proper coaching, nor developing by playing against elite competition. Furthermore, he's not athletic at all. Steph Curry get higher on dunks than this dude, it seems.

I'm not saying he can't and won't make it, but I see ZERO reason to believe this could would be a star. If he's not going to be a super-athlete, then his IQ is going to have to be off the charts to compensate, and there is no indication that he has that level of an IQ for the game.

But Var made Cacs mad :sadbron:

There’s no such thing as premier Brazil league, him and Barbosa are the only notable players from that league and he wasn’t on ANY mock drafts.

Philly bouls, Trust the Process
Melo will make it, but LaVar did really hurt his stock I gotta say

Kid has talent tho. He's sloppy and rough around the edges, but he's got the handle, he's shifty, can pull up from anywhere, jelly, court vision, etc. rare package at 6'7"

If he can learn to play a controlled game under some good coaching and he gets more explosive as his body acclimates and stops growing then the sky is the limit for him

Wishing the best for the kid

Top 3 pick lock BBB no loses :banderas:

I could still see him get drafted just off the strength of his scoring brutishness. Plus he’s a really capable floor general.

I 100% expect him to be a star though

He should get drafted in teens.

He has great floater and midrange. He can finish around basket and can shoot free throws. He also a great playmaker. He only lacks d and motor at times.

He will make NBA and be a good pro

At this point without the athleticism (which might come later) he's like a Reggie Miller type player to me. Literally all LaMelo needs is a consistent outside jumpshot. He has handles, can get to the rim and a nice feel for the game.

he was a 5 star recruit so he SHOULD go to the league. Lavar's shenanigans only lowered his potential draft pick tho

I actually see him as a rich man's Harden, like if you made Lonzo and Beasley into one player, can both pass and shoot with high BBBall IQ and efficiency. You don't need athleticism or defense to make the league if you can dominate on offense because no one ever scored a point playing defense, he needs to conserve energy on that end and that's what teammates are for anyway. He's going to be drafted top-5 and be an MVP candidate
