He played great honestly

But he was inefficient, started rough, and ultimately didn’t help his team get anywhere

Lamelo kinda did it all to help them win games. It was clear as day when he got hurt and was rushed back even with the injury. And even with all that, they still made the play-in with that trash team/coaching

So i see how he got the nod over Edwards. I wouldn’t have cared if they both won it. Edwards is a star in the making as well

The one thing that complicated the matters of giving it to them both is that some voters thought that Haliburton had the better season than Ants and put him #2 on the ballot.

Not totally mad at Lamelo winning even though I thought Edwards deserved it. He was playing like a borderline all-star for the second half of the season while Lamelo was out. But what's blowing my mind is I'm hearing that Haliburton finished second. If that's true that's insane to me.

Haliburton had a lowkey terrific rookie season and was the more consistent player. Look deeper into the numbers and Edwards was awful.

Low key terrific. The man put up 13/3/5 in 30 minutes a game? How's that terrific? Haliburton was a solid consistent contributor but his highs were nowhere near Edwards highs. His best month was 16/4/5. Anthony Edwards admittedly had a shytty start to the season but post all start put up 23/5/3 a game on 45% shooting. Even for his bad first half he was putting up the same points as Haliburton with two less assists on a much worse team even though he was crazy inefficient doint so. Plus to me star power matters with ROY and Edwards showed flat out star potential by the end of the year.

Dudes gotta stop being fooled by raw numbers and actually look deeper into the analytics. The same dudes asking why Ant didn't win ROY are the same ones who complained about why CP3 made 2nd Team All NBA over players with better numbers.

Edwards performance in the month of May doesn't nor should overshadow the fact of how ass he was to start the season and how awful his analytic numbers still were. Dude was one of the worst players at his position this season if we're going by the analytics.

The numbers I gave you were for the entire second half of the season. For the last 36 games he put up an average 24/5/3 on 45% shooting. It wasn't just May. So what analytic stats do you have that show him as one of the worst players by position or that Haliburton was so much better?

  • Edwards is shooting just 48% on 2-pointers and 33% on 3-pointers. His effective field-goal percentage (48%) ranks 118th among 126 qualified players.
  • He’s averaging 2.8 assists per game and 2.3 turnovers per game. Among non-bigs averaging so many turnovers per game, only Pistons forward Josh Jackson is averaging fewer assists per game than Edwards.
  • Edwards’ defensive estimated plus-minus (-1.2) ranks in the 23rd percentile.

Those metrics were posted a week before the play-in tournament. Even if you want to use raw numbers in the discussion, dude literally shot 40.2% from the field and 29.4% and that's even with how much improved as a shooter he got as the season progressed. So you could only imagine how awful he was prior to the turnaround.

Edwards got better for.the last couple.montha but he was just an inefficient gunner for most of the year. Lot of 16 pts on 15 shots type games...but he improved over time but just too late

I'm legit shocked at howLaMelo was....
I doubted him something crazy but he is a legit player

Halliburton was solid enough but that dont win awards
