Lance is getting paid, all these on court antics have nothing to do with the money he is going to get (and these so called antics weren't even that big), that's all media talk. There are a lack of solid shooting guards in the NBA, all this media attention won't stop him from getting paid.

Not only that but Bird was one of the biggest trash talkers in NBA history.

I think it has to do with race and location (Indiana, a place Bird knows well). The Pacers weren't getting a lot of support and weren't selling out home games after that "Malice in the Palace" thing. White folks in Indiana were viewing NBA players as over-privileged, spoiled and enabled "thugs." Bird has been trying to cleanse this perception and Lance's actions are seen as immature and thus "thuggish" to white people. That's the new buzz word. Hoodie? Thug. Richard Sherman? Thug. Antics and trash talk? Thug. Bird knows his people.

Even with his fukkery I don't have a problem wit Lance...if he comes into a team with a defined role as a playmaker/creater/irritant he'll fit. You know he's gonna be off the wall and act crazy at times, but at his best he's an All Star caliber level wing.
