All this hate for Lane Kiffin is basically because he is Lane Kiffin.

The college calendar is to blame. All of this needs to be moved to after the season is over.

There are 2 other coaches who have agreements to new jobs that can be in the CFP who are being allowed to stay with their teams and finish the season. The Tulane coach and the James Madison coach are about to leave. And you have players who will put their names in the portal during the playoffs here in a week or 2.

People just dont like Lane, and thats his doing from his past, but he doesnt have a choice. The school can fire you at any time, so he can leave at anytime.
This is only a topic because he tried to leverage staying to coach at an in conference rival while accepting another job IN Conference. If he just takes the LSU job this isn’t nearly the same level of story.

I agree to a large extent. Lane has a bad reputation and a lot of this lies at the feet of the NCAA. Why are schools allowed to tamper with employed coaches during the season?

That being said - Ole Miss and LSU is a huge rivalry... they've played every year since like the 50s. I understand why Ole Miss doesn't want LSU's head coach coaching them in the postseason.

Happens everyday, head hunter call an employed person to see if they are interested.

This doesn’t lie at the feet of the NCAA. If he wanted to coach the team he should have stayed. He made his choice. Choices have consequences.

Neutral Niccas pulling for Ole Miss….:mjlol:
Actually l, upon further review, take that back.

Somehow that snake oil salesman baked into his contract that LSU will pay him a bonus for every round Ol Miss wins in the playoff.

Some type of riddicoulous performance clause where he will be paid for games he won't even coach.

Lane is a damn criminal

I disagree.

When is he suppose to then leave and take the LSU job? You have to take the new job when its available. Lane tried to finish this season cause he is still the coach for Ole Miss in 2025. But I also agree that Ole Miss should tell him to go now, cause its a conference rival.

Overall for college coaches who are currently at a school- when can you then try and get another job? It would never happen.

You have plenty of players who go from school to another school in conference.

Bruh, again, the NCAA is an easy target. What does the NCAA have to do with coaching hirings and internal matters that aren’t infractions/violations? It’s just an enforcement arm and doesn’t act unilaterally creating bylaws and statutes without it’s members wanting it. If this was truly an issue, this is on the conferences to handle. The problem is the agents being able to backdoor and manipulate the system by getting their clients new gigs before jobs come open. Sexton was negotiating at A&M for Jimbo once Summerlin blew that lead vs UCLA in 2016. It’s why you have talking heads talking about a shift in power in the SEC now that Sexton’s old mentee now has 5 coaches in the SEC now and that grip on influence he had is withering away. Long story short, this problem is way down on the list of issues that the NCAA cares about.

When he signs an MOU or agrees to terms. Just because you want to stay, your employer isn’t obliged to accommodate your request. Again, if he wanted to see this thing through like he claims, he would’ve stayed.

I don’t see the connection between my post and your reply. I didn’t say anything about the timing of when he took the job. That’s just the way it works.

What isn’t the way it works is taking a job at and in conference opponent program and expecting to stay at your outgoing school through a CFP cycle.
