I was listening to Breakin' Atoms and marveling at how great of an album it is. Then I thought of how Large Pro was just 19 at the time.
How crazy is it that he started the 90s doing a large chunk of the production for Rakim and Kool G Rap, then he released Breakin' Atoms. Over the next couple of years he produced Akinyele's album, made significant contributions to Illmatic, and had some other notable collabos (with Tribe, Diamond D, etc.) ...
And then he disappeared for basically the rest of the decade.
Yes, I know about his album The LP which was supposed to come out in 1996.
But still: Large Pro did so much in the first few years of the 90s (Illmatic came out in 1994, but I think Extra P's work was all done in 1992) by the age of 20, one would have expected him to be a mainstay for the rest of the decade. He should have had a discography like Primo. It's so strange how he became a non-factor at such a young age. I feel like the hip-hop world was robbed of some great music.
