She brings up a good point though because Africans from Africa don't consider Black Americans to be African. There logic is if you aren't born in Africa then you are not African.
Right, and I don't think a lot of Africans consider themselves black, they refer to themselves by tribe....So lets break this down,Africans don't want us or consider us Africans,We were taken into slavery and called negroes which turned into us being black....yet folks think both of these are so much better than "nikka"?

Okay let's build, we were taken into slavery and they called us Negros which is Latin for black or dark. What were we before that? you mentioned that Africans refer to themselves by tribe so where does that leave those who were taken into slavery? Are we natives of America? according to Webster, a native is a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not. What does African-American really mean? is that them saying we belong two different continents?

Im from the school of it doesn't really matter what you refer to yourself as,if you wanna go by black go by black,if you want to be African American be African American,if you want to do research and find out where your from so you can refer to yourself by tribe,go right ahead,if you a nikka from the dirty 30's in your city go right ahead....I know technically African American is saying we belong to two contintents, you could say that's true,we do belong in Africa....But everybody knows the story by now and how we got here,i look at African American as saying you are of African descent.
I just kindve think its one of the many petty debates black folks like to have, that keep us from getting to anything of substance? You walkin around proudly identifying yourself with white slavemaster names, but offended by "black","nikka","African American"?how about we all just pick one and let us move on to more pressing matters.
White people tell you that you all came here on slave ships from Africa and you accept it even though their signs said "Negroes" for sale. Africans tell you that you aren't African and you get mad and repeat what the white man told you. So called African-Americans tell you that you are actually Native to the Americas, and you scoff because white people told you otherwise and they would never lie about anything.
Most of the so called African Americans were already here. A small amount were brought over but for the most part, we got enslaved in our own land.
The song 10 little Indians used to be called 10 little ni**er* and it describes the destruction of our people.
Anytime you hear this Indian war, that Indian war you need to remove the mental image of a heavily mixed person, and replace it with what you would call an African American. Why did Abraham Lincoln want to send the newly freed slaves to South America? Why didn't he say send them back to Africa?
Find out the names of your people and search the Dawes Roll to see what you can find. Please note the year this was taken so you can make sure the ages match the name.

All you Israelites, I am talking to you too. You are going to cling to "back to Egypt in ships" and think this doesn't apply to us, but I would advise you to look deeper. The book "When Rocks Cry Out" by Horace Butler is a must read. You don't need to agree with him theologically, it's the geography information you want. Our sense of geography has been thrown off, because once again we've been lied to.
There are indigenous black populations on every continent, yet we are supposed to believe that for some reason North and South American had a mixed indigenous population?
So called African Americans are not African. Imagine what would happen legally if we all knew that? Find out the names of your great and great great grandparents and start searching the Dawes Roll.
native americans tell black people they aren't native as well, while actively kicking them out of their tribes.
i have no doubt that there were black americans here before whites, but i also believe the vast majority of blacks were transported here from africa. even the black natives migrated from africa at some point.
This is sad.
And this chick really said she is "of brown descent". Lark, last time I checked you wasn't hispanic.
I mean, it's one thing that she doesn't want to be acknowledged as African cause she was not born in the continent...but she doesn't want to be acknowledged as black either....just American.
Obviously the lack of a career she faced after saved by the bell must of messed her up, but it's not really like the rest of the cast fared so much better either.
BTW, on tumblr there really are black people that are clinging onto this "We are brown" movement like Lark.
Not even getting acknowledged by hispanics or indians. At all.
Why do people want to run away from being black? I know why though...but still, shyt is pathetic. Claiming things that they aren't in order to be accepted by people who don't accept them.
