I actually really like Mudiay and I think Larry brown is right when he says he is a better pure PG:yeshrug:. I flipped back and forth on them the whole year. I think they are both studs. Wouldn't surprise me if Mudiay ended up better than Russell. Wouldn't surprise me if Russell ended up better than mudiay. To me they are equal but different:mjpls: prospects. Mudiay is no slouch. Was my choice for the lakers if we traded for cousins. I thought there were 3 studs in this draft. Towns, Russell and Mudiay. Just because he didn't play in the NCAA doesn't mean I forgot what he was doing to these cats all his HS career. Nuggets won. Lakers won. Knicks lost :bryan:

:aicmon: Russell is the best passer & arguably up there as one of the best shooter in the draft. Mudiay is a nice athlete, but he isn't an elite one and he has no J at all. Russell has a higher ceiling than Mudiay imo. If Mudiay reaches his, he is John Wall. If Russell reaches his, you get J-Kidd with his passing vision due to his size to look over the defense as a PG with a Ginobli/Harden shooting stroke imo. Russell has the flare and style for the game that was THE perfect Lakers draft pick. :francis: And Larry Brown has been slurping Mudiay something serious.

Russell will NEVER be the athlete that young Jason Kidd was :russ:
:francis: I said his passing breh due to his size and the way he was always was a couple steps ahead of the defense, and that is where the comparison ends. :francis:

Clarkson/Russell is way nicer than Clarkson/Mudiay. That's not a sleight to Mudiay because dude will be a beast and I can't believe anybody would skip on dude after the 3rd pick, but as far as chemistry goes the former combination would work much better.

Clarkson/Russell are both tall guards who can distribute and score in multiple ways. Clarkson is the slasher/juker Russell is the shooter/juker. Both are great passers, but Russell has rare-level vision and passing ability. If "positionless basketball" is the future then the Lakers took the right step.

I remember Clarkson going off on Memphis so the Grizzlies put Tony Allen on him. But if the other team puts their defensive specialist on one tall PG, then that means the other tall PG is going to go off on the smaller or other guard. That forces the other team to use more defense than offense. Clarkson/Russell is a match-up problem. Just like what Livingston/Curry was in the Finals.

that backcourt is gonna be dope once kobe retires and gets out the way.

sidebar: clarkson isnt under contract??

Point taken but the team they played in the wcf had a similar style with Harden essentially bringing the ball up and initiating the offense while Terry or whoever spaced the floor. Kyrie plays the same way, he'll go a whole game without getting an assist.

I'm not talking about small ball. I'm saying you don't need a traditional pg to win in today's league.
You don't think Curry is a traditional point guard?
