Last tape was just iiight to me..
That and the berner tape are the only two recent projects that don't really get any rotation from me out of all his recent work. I just don't get the hype with fraud. Now to be up front, I'm not the most knowledgable person when it comes to production, but it seems like all he does is take soul samples, removes all the soul from them, and then cuts them together lol. If we want to get TLR with it, by this metric, it seems like he's being a boss level culture vulture. Cokkin Soul does the same, but a million times better, while Fresh and Cardo actually make their rouxs from scratch lol. I can listen to Curren$y's Tonight Show that he did with DJ Fresh all day, but I found Outrunners to be extremely mid as well. Larry reached a bigger audience with Fraud apparently, but LJ has always done just fine without him when it comes to soulful albums without him.

Dope post. Yeah I got put onto Larry through Fraud and now I’m onto his other projects. I’d heard his verses before with Jay Worthy and Spitta but just never thought to check for his solo material.
I like him way more than Worthy at this point.
You thought Outrunners was mid? I know a lot of people liked Director’s Cut more. I like the highs on Outrunners though.

Maybe I'm going to far by calling Outrunners mid, but being more biased towards Dj Fresh, I was kind of surprised that the Outrunners thread was twice a long as the tonight show on here. Then Larry June drops an album with Fraud and everybody is into June all of a sudden. I think I might just be being a hater haha. I should just be glad that anyone is blessing us with good music and that it's so accessible these days. I would like to start seeing DJ Fresh get the props he deserves sooner than later though. Breh has been putting in major work for hella years now and I feel like he's still not even a blip on most people's radars.
