Y’all ever get the feeling that Larry June is biting Curren$y or at least he copying his career moves?
He’s clearly influenced by Dom and Currensy. I doubt they would have multiple tracks with him if they thought he was straight trying to bite them. Them two and Mac Dre are what I hear the most

No doubt. There's influence but to me he has his own stylistic differences that stand out. I never thought he sounded like he was sharking Spitta, and this was my first Larry June project, and I been a Spitta fan since Pilot Talk 2.

They definitely make music on the same wavelength, but I think there's an entire lane for this style. Calling Larry June a biter of Currensy is kinda like saying everyone on the NY indie scene right now is biting Roc Marci. Most are clearly influenced by him, but no one is really biting Roc Marci either at the moment IMO.

Of course he’s inspired by spitta in many ways, including work ethic

but overall the pen is different, the flow is different, the delivery is different, he has is own style and charisma

he’s inspired by Spitta as much as he’s inspired by Too Short or Mac Dre

Respect the good & understand the bad
Cooks and Orange Juice Tape with Berner just dropped. Let's get that thread poppin! "New Plants".:ohlawd:
Can't believe Larry been stickied this long! :blessed:

Not the biggest berner fan, but his production is always on point. This will hold me over until Larry's next solo project which is supposed to drop next month though :win:

This whole 'Cooks & OJ' tape was dope. Real short and to the point. I added 5 out of 7 to my Larry June playlist. He styled on this whole tape honestly. shyt is to be expected at this point. Larry just needs to come out with an R&B tape a la Ghostface - Wizard Of Poetry. That would be a great addition to the run he's on now.

Sometimes when Berner raps you can tell he's reading off the phone/notepad line by line and trying not to mess up, while Larry just raps fluid. On some of the slower tempo tracks, that was a small issue with Berner but he didn't totally ruin it. He actually did pretty aight throughout the tape. When Berner raps you at least know he's not lying about shyt he's talking about like a lot of these dudes so that makes his bars hit a lil bit more.

The beat selection was on point, as it usually is with Berner and Larry June projects. The Devin The Dude feature was a nice touch to add to a tape that was already ending on a high note.
