People seem to forget he was tall as fukk with long ass arms and the definition of a pesky defender
thats one thing though, being regarded as the most valuable defender in the league that many seasons is crazy

I thought Larry was a bad defender? Or at least not a stopper.

I think def win shares might just be bullshyt. Barkley and Dirk ranked higher all time than the glove :mindblown:

Yeah i dunno breh. They probably inflate defensive rebounding in the calculation?

this metric is designed to estimate a player's contribution in terms of wins not really estimate how good a defender they are

He was not a very good individual defender, But he was an excellent team and help defender, due to his high basketball IQ.
It was easy for Bird to steal balls and help out others on defense because he had seen the play before it actually happened.

I think Bird probably benefited statistically for having a free role in one of the better defensive team in the nba.

there was a story I heard on the radio about when the AS game was in Dallas back in the 80's, and right before the 3pt contest, Bird went into the media room cooler and was looking for a certain type of beer. He couldn't find it, but found something else he wanted to try instead, chugged like 2 of them down immediately, then went out and won the 3pt contest.

I don't know if it's true, but I dont see why it wouldnt be.

So for the looks of it, its accurate for great defenders but it also includes a bunch of guys who were average/terrible defenders on good denfesive teams.

Just looking at the list for this season, KD at #3, mike conley 7th, david west 11th, BOOZER 13th :wtf:, blake 18th, david lee 22th

I dunno :manny: I wouldn't trust it

it clearly overvalues defensive rebounding.

mike conley is a nice defender though, he shouldnt habvent been included.

i was making any statements on DWS's, just :leon: @ Larry leading the league multiple times in it.
