growing up watching boxing w/ the old man... i always HATED having to hear his nasaly, whiny voice
the worst parts were the end when he tried to poetically summarize the fight
:puke:
Exactly.
and Larry had elephant balls. Walk in the ring and talk shyt to a trained fighter that just got his ass beat. Asking them fukked up questions all slow and dignified..."Why didn't you at least TRY to not get your face pounded in, in that third round? What is your family going to think when they see your face swollen and bloodied?"
What was he saying about Tito? Just zoomed to the 7th round and he really didn't say anything. The guy gets a lot of hate on this site, but it's pretty much because he hates the flamboyant/pretty boy acts in the sport of boxing.
I still remember when Oscar De La Hoya entered the ring vs Pernell Whitaker with a mariachi band, and Merchant was on some, "If you are Pernell Whitaker, this sucks." Then proceeded to say how disrespectful it was toward Pernell Whitaker that DLH was putting on a show before the fight. The next week, Merchant was forced to apologize when dlh tried to get him fired for his comments.
shyt, just listen to his full commentary on the Hopkins-Trinidad fight and keep in mind Tito was HBO's "darling":
Bernard Hopkins vs Felix Trinidad Particularly rounds 6 and beyond, especially in round 7.
Now I really like George Foreman's commentary, but he was out of line that fight.

It wasn't that he was saying anything negative about Tito, but he wasn't saying anything positive (because there really wasn't much to) and gave Hopkins full credit throughout the fight, while Foreman was doing the exact opposite by saying Hopkins really wasn't doing much and was biased toward Tito.
