When I say that I mean, graphically, we are good with no need to improve any further. Graphics don't make a game. Gameplay does. I'm playing games like Valkyrie Chronicles, older graphics, cell shaded, but still looks great and plays great too.

I fear, we will have a future of hyper realistic yet, shallow games.

BOTW is my favorite game to be released in the last 10 years. Same thing. Not graphics heavy. But the gameplay is top notch, the score is inspirational, the story, incredible.

That's why I switched to PC, you see how poor graphics really are

I put Mass Effect Andromeda on a TCL 4k TV using the ps4 pro, and put the gaming PC I just brought on input 2, put Mass Effect Andomeda on the exact same spot, switched between the inputs to compare, it wasn't close, the ps4 pro looked like complete dog shyt,

same thing with Arkham Knight

It's reason why people but the most expensive graphics card, because you gotta turn the effects up it completely improves the image quality but then you want to keep a high frame rate as well, and that takes a lot of power to play a game at a high frame rate with some graphical effects enabled

Even if you ended up being right (and you aren’t, graphics will improve) that doesn’t mean the last generation is the peak. More powerful consoles more juice for things outside of graphics; think ray tracing, physics engines, NPCs that can be displayed, draw distances, etc

Yes, the high frame rates make game play and movement much smoother, so the game is actually way better because you can enjoy the combat because it's more responsive, and moving around the environment doesn't full sluggish, I quit playing the game on ps4 pro end up finishing it on PC after doing the comparison, the original watch dogs is aslo a much better game on PC because of the same things.

You have to see for yourself to understand

the lighting effects and shadows play a big part in how a game looks, and consoles have all those set to medium or low, when PC usually have three to four settings higher than been high very high ultra and extreme in some cases

OP this is only the beginning. I don't know how everyone can't see where gaming is obviously heading. The graphics will continue to become hyper-realistic or just pretty in terms of fidelity. Gameplay and advancements in immersion e.g. VR is what should excite you. The new technology Sony and MS invested in is going to give us a glimpse of where 3D gameplay is headed this generation. Next generation will be a continuation of what we see this gen. This gen is a preview. Expect new ideas and mechanics because of the new technology this generation. Ragnarok which is cross gen will give a sneak peak, Rift Apart gave us a taste, etc. By the end of the generation we will have games that will rival full blown 100+ million dollar movies in terms of immersion and gameplay. I'm banking on ND, SM, Insomniac, some of MS's studios, etc. That means there is no way last generation was the peak.
