People who refer to themselves as "Spanish", and aren't from Spain, are fukking retarded.

absolutely not

Spanish people are from Spain, a European country where the vast majority of the ppl are white

I'm not white, I'm black

No. You specify where, which is why Hispanics identify primarily by their country. In many instances the only thing that's shared is the language. It's something other cultures can't understand sometimes

I just watched the latest episode of Respect Life
And Melo who is Panamanian and this Puerto Rican cat both called themselves Spanish :lupe:

i'm not trying to be a dikk... i truly don't know

but isn't the reason why spanish is spoken in mexico and southern america, is because the spanish came to these countries and basically took over... raping and pilaging through the continents, and leaving their mark on the people

that being said, your ancestors, and most likely you, were of spanish blood because of that

same way i'm not from africa and never been, and none of my family is either... but we wouldn't be offended by african american... and if asked, we'd say our ancestors are from africa

i'm saying is it wrong factually to say "spanish"... and what the fukk is "of latin descent" isn't that damn near the same thing since latin is roman/italian?

i think that's an upper east coast thing... i been all in ny, nj, philly, dmv.... they have no problem calling themselves spanish... but you go to miami and try that shyt and it's going to be a problem

i did find this tho

Spanish people come from Spain, so it would be incorrect to refer to someone from Latin America or the Spanish-speaking Caribbean as Spanish.

Hispanic, on the other hand, refers to people who descend from Spanish-speaking countries (Brazilians and Haitians, for example, wouldn't be considered Hispanic). It's important to note, however, that many people from Spanish-speaking countries resist the Hispanic categorization, viewing it as a marker that connects them directly to their colonizers — that is, the Spanish.

i can definitely see how that would be a problem.... imagine if they called blacks, english, because we spoke the language and the english enslaved us
