Sofia is fine, I don't really think she goes into it with the idea she's gonna show out. Its the producers, directors, agents, and writers that think that is what white people want. There is mold for Hispanics in media that hasn't been broken yet but until there's a latin-american company that makes movies/tv I don't see that changing. Then you have the sell-outs that can't wait to be white and deny where they came from but that's every race.

I think it's difficult to say because, I think that sexiness/femininity are huge parts of Latin culture. We as Americans make take that to the extreme, but Sophia Vegara and the chracter she portrays on Modern family is the same as many female characters in Spanish dramas and comedies. I think that it is still a relative upgrade from the mammy/housekeeper Spanish women have been playing for the previous decades. It's still an upgrade from the depiction of Black women in the same time period.

Dressing up like a famous person for Halloween is not offensive. That is how Sofia dresses. As far as her accent goes... well... I think her accent is exaggerated. Sofia says that her own son does not believe she really talks like that and he thinks she is forcing it.

Sofia being able to laugh at herself, is not c**ning. She is not a representative of all Latina women everywhere.

On Latino television, women are sexy at all times. Even the weather lady is in a "fukkemdress" at 5 in the morning. So that sexy "stereotype" is what girls from Latin countries want to look like. They are not embarrassed of their sexuality.
