Its kind of cool that we have 2 big men like this in the league at the same time. Actual true heirs to Dirk Nowitski after all the frauds/pretenders that came before them...i.e

andrea bargnani
nikoloz tskitishvili
wang zhizhi

But who would you rather build around?

I would have said Porzingis but now he’s blown out his knee. And even though technology and health science has come far its still not far enough along. Porzingis is going to lose some of his athleticism. How much we don’t know..but for a guy his size its going to be something to watch.

Lauri can shoot as well, has great mobility and is not bad at all on defense. He’s a high iq guy in general. And more importantly has no major injuries. There’s no easy pick here

Porzingis while very athletic, doesn’t rely on his athleticism to get his points. He’s just extremely skilled. So I would still take Porzingis since the defensive gap between the two is wide.

Porzingis athleticism really comes into play when you factor in his defense. He’s one of the 3 best rim protectors in the league. And lot of why he’s able to be that way is because of his elite athleticism. Keep in mind dude is 7’3, and has springs and insane reflexes.

It’s unfortunate he’s going to lose some of that.

Respect.

But isn't it also true that the post-acl repair defensive ability might suffer due to a potential loss in lateral movement?

Has Mark actually shown a similar potential as KP? If his potential has been close, than as much of a Knick fan as I am, I'd have to go w/ Lauri as of today Feb 26 2018.

Easily Porzingis because of his defense if he can stay healthy. But im very skeptical, Porzingis is really goofy with his feet and needs to learn how to land safer when he jumps

He has both. He's athletic and skill. But u could argue more skill
No nothing about basketball brehs
No. Lauri is very agile, has a stronger frame than KP, and he can jump too he’s not nicknamed the Finnisher for nothing the man dunks the basketball.

He is but he’s not as explosive. My point was he really skillful and not overly reliant on athleticism or size (he has a good frame but he’s not very strong)
