Why did they stuff everyone into the first night?

Isleys, Babyface, Maxwell AND Lauryn is a wild lineup but logistically this seemed bound to fail

All things considered it sounds like she had a good performance and was interacting with the crowd.

She was actually a professional and from what it sounded like the organizers were the ones making things late? It didn’t sound like it was her fault. She was scheduled for 2:30AM.

Nonetheless it’s wild how little respect these events have for people’s time. Event ending at 4AM means nearly half your Saturday is gone to account for waking up in the middle of the day.

Anything after about 1 AM is starting to push it especially with that above 35 years old and older audience which is kinda what Essence appeals to.

I’m getting comfortable with the reality I’m in that audience now.

Listen..Ive been to Essence a numerous times. The shows always go past 2am..always.

number 1 reason we stopped going to the shows. We would go down just to do the parties afterwhile
