He gotta be mature to survive out there in Europe primarily on his own, does he not? He doesnt have to be mature to be in UCLA in the same city as his fam and the fukkery of LA, no? If his family the problem, then one path leads away from them the other doesnt
I never said the family is the problem.

Melo is a high school dropout at this point.

No way sending a 16 year old high school dropout to another country to play a professional sport with grown ass men is a good idea.

Gelo might be ok, but we already know his maturity and decision making skills are fukked.

Kids need structure and guidance. College offers that and a bit of freedom to find yourself.

Playing overseas gives you none of that.

I like it. Hopefully we see more of this, and it leads to young athletes being able to demand what they're worth from the NCAA

The smart play is find a small or mid-major school, have Lamelo graduate in schedule with Liangelo becoming eligible again for transferring, and let them cook. Sneak into the NCAA tournament and get crazy exposure. It’s that simple.

They literally can't now. They signed with an agent. College basketball is done for them now.

edit:

The real dumb part about signing with an agent is they didn't have to. They could've floated a potential deal with teams through an intermediary like damn near everyone does now without sacrificing the option of going to a smaller school. It's usually done through shoe company connects, but there's other ways to get the message out without burning the NCAA bridge because his son stole some shyt.

And this is the end of the Ball Brothers, besides Lonzo.

LiAngelo could do whatever, but Lavar has absolutely ruined Lamelo's legit NBA aspirations. Nobody will touch him unless some coach changes his game overseas (and I dont think any respectful coach wants that LiAngelo / Lamelo package deal)
Lol wut? LiAngelo will be playing vastly superior competition than anyone in his class for 4 years. I swear people just write things to write things. Where ever they go, they'll be stars. This dude has already had a debate with Trump on prime time TV. Let's say they go to China. Do you know how much money they could make over there if things go well?

Should have focused on their education.

If basketball doesn't pan out for them, at least they would have equipped themselves with some tools to enter the family business.

This dude is controlling his kids like a marionette.
