Think it was right choice another year in school could've saved him but I don't see anyway Frost and Phillips could've played together. Phillips was a ticking time bomb the moment he got real money just a fukked up story all around.

Just watched the Showtime doc.
I was just thinking about the decision tho... because it was the first time where folks knew he did something that was egregious, and he gotta a pass. He got no logical consequence from an authority aside from a few games. that coulda been a real moment to impart a message about logical consequences. After that, he kept getting passes.

Just a different era back then bad timing fukked up a lot of shyt for Phillips. Vermiel seemed to really care for him and did all he could to get him chances around the league but he was so far gone by that point.
I agree with the guy that said nebraska didn't need Phillips to win a championship osborne kept him around for Phillips own good
