Yeah, in fairness to Dwayne, the crowd didn't do him any favors either. They were kinda dead all night and Rock came with a crowd hype, goofy, call and response promo. They didnt even give Phil much heat either, but that worked better because of the serious nature of what he was saying and the stuff about playing them like puppets and such.

If not for the opening match, 3MB overkill, Gatorade/Gamma Ray, and Kofi eating dirt in less time than a Divas match, I'd wish for even worse...such as adding Sheamus to the mix.

While watching him go into his schtick tonight, I was reminded of seeing, like, Jim Carrey on a talk show today, hamming it up to promote a new movie. You're not sure if he's changed or you have...you just know that he used to be the best thing going, that was a long time ago, its just not the same, and the whole thing has just a hint of sadness and desperation to it

It's clearly both, but it's probably more us than him. The guy been calling dudes Roody Poos, Popcorn Farts, Whisker Biscuits and Candy Asses forever...to nostalgia-driven praise from the IWC. The guy's been relying on catchphrases and telling sophomoric jokes forever...to more critical praise. I'm not willing to rule out the possibility that these promos could be objectively inferior for one reason for another, but when I read the criticism of the promos themselves from the IWC, they seem to complain about things that are Rock trademarks, not things Rock upped and just decided to do.

Whether you think some of his jokes were funny, or some aren't, they all come from the same comedic style. If you're gonna address the jokes themselves, that's cool, but once you start complaining about the nature of the jokes which in Rock's case hasn't changed since 99ish, you're just a mark who wants people to changes themselves according to your tastes.

The last thirty eight minutes of raw were incredible!
Rock vs punk completely delivered way past and above expectations.
Their exchange was epic,....

How did you not like the rock's promo.
From his entrance, and shrugging off punk when hercame down the ramp.
The stride past punk in ring like whatever.
After getting his Shane o'mac hurricane u Happy feet, let's bring it dance on.
the contrast and way the roc setup it up for punk to be serious and rock show he acknowledged and respected punk.
To punk swinging for the fences in the best return promo against the rock ever.

then rock setting him up outta nowhere twice for his vintage catchphrases and a delayed rock returns to Tampa.
The insults were completely on point,...
The rock sons the white kids at the suburban school after being bus'd in from a segregated all black school.
To punk being completely hip,....
Plus ready, for the rock.
All the way down to even heyman being incorporated into its clobberin' time, earlier during TLC.
Just what are you saying.....

It's like the they're obsessed with seeing the WWE fail. It's funny. Before the Rock, who has given a DAMN about what CM Punk has had to say. Nobody has been watching him Why has he been champion this long? Why did he turn heel? Why did he hook up with Heyman? It's all because of ONE man.
