After Sony canceled the release of the North Korea assassination comedy The Interview, a Texas theater said it would swap the film with Paramount's 2004 film Team America: World Police for one free screening.

@ them using Katy Perry's 'Firework' for his assassination scene. That was so gratuitous and unnecessary.

In one of the trailers rogen and franco are hanging out with the kim character and they hop in a tank and the tank's audio system starts playing Fireworks and says "I love this song!", and obviously this scene happens later on and it's fitting that Kim gets obliterated when his favorite song is playing.

Well consider the fact team america was a movie filmed using action figures and was ridiculously absurd in its premise. This features real humans and there is a more realistic tone to it. Journalists used by the CIA to get close to a dictator to assassinate him. Still ridiculous to pull the film but it makes sense why this generated a lot more controversy and team america didn't.

As a whole, I didn't think it was very funny. There were a few funny parts, but the move as a whole was more like "light chuckle, smirking" funny than "eyes watering, suffocating from laughing" funny. I'll be honest tho, comedies are always funnier in a theatre. I saw it at home. I feel like humor is sometimes a group-type thing, sometimes when other people laugh it becomes contagious and you laugh with them.
