I don't think he was comparing James Brown and Beyonce. He was just showing his frustration with how black artists don't win outside of their own circles at white people music award shows, specifically the Grammys. All of his awards he has won have been in rap & r&b categories, a genre that is mostly made up of blacks. he's never won just song of the year, or album of the year.
