Im honestly not the most knowledgeable. I'm going through this thread and doing research online at the moment. Just feel like I need to finally go back to school and get a degree. Just looking for some advice.
I definitely want to learn to code and to develop websites.

Do what I did, in 2015 I was working a contract job as a Network Analyst and then the contarct ended and I was stuck. That summer I applied to 3 coding bootcamps, one of them(Software Guild) in my city Minneapolis accepted me in.
-The course was 3 months of 9am to 5pm programming. Language was C#, they also offered Java, but my city is a Microsoft heavy area so C# made sense.
- By the 3rd month they held a career fair and I had a job in place 3 weeks before the course ended making 55k
-I started the Job December of 2015 at 55k
-After 6 months there, last summer I accepted a job at my current company at 70k salary
The course cost 10k, but because this bootcamp was accredited through a University I got financial aid to cover costs.
Its that easy brehs, coding is a gold mine and the market is insatiable.

Been at it everday since last summer. Blocked my account on here & social media since December to July. Probably job ready, just polishing up my portfolio then will start the job hunt in a month or two. Taught myself C# and Javascript until I could use React + Redux etc. with efficiency.
Glad I took that year out of my life to focus, just goes to show what you can do if you stop procrastinating and making excuses

Try to code almost everyday. Even if its just for 20 mins.
And if youre looking for a good book on java, try Head First Java. its pretty good introduction to the world of java and programming, you could probably find it online some where or your local library.
Also there will be times when you become frustrated especially if you cant get something to work, the best thing to do is take a break and do something else for a little while and then come back to it a little later.
You should check out a book called think like a programmer, which teaches you about how to approach problem solving, like how to break a problem down so its easier to solve etc
