Used to play Metal Gear Solid on PS1 with no memory card 
Me and my boy got so good we used run through the first disc and end up falling asleep playing through the second and had to start all over again. Never thought we would see the end of the game...and then Xmas came. 8MB memory card saved our gaming lives.

Nah, ya'll nikkas were just dumb. How you buying games but can't afford the memory card? The official ones were $40-50 just like the games. Dudes actually in the struggle had no PS2, much less a memory card.
For some versions, yes.
I had 3.8 where you only had to insert little pieces to pop the top and keep the disc from stopping while playing.

Games like SF Alpha 3 had a nikka with a steamy ps1 just to unlock everything.
i ruined mine trying to fix the disc error. i got disc read error for every game except gta3. cleaned the lens work alcohol, got it on every game, including gta3. then i lost the screws. convinced my grandma to me a new one for "her house" that eventually became mine. 
rode that shyt til ps3 dropped, then i sold it... for $20.

Lord knows many of the games prompted you to save and load savesYeah because nikkas was buying their own games at 10.

I don't get it. A PS2 was expensive when it came out. So how are you going to pay all that money for the console, some games, and an extra controller but not pay the little bit more for the memory card?

Did you all ever have one of those memory cards that had little buttons on it and you could like switch which save slot you were on by clicking the buttons? It took me months to figure out which slot I had my FF7 save on
