realistically its melo

team doesnt need lebron

but knicks need melo

they would be hornets (pelicans) status without him

thats what value is

they need to change the name of the award to most sensational player

By this logic, where were Luol Deng's votes??

The Miami Heat's superstar fell one vote shy of being the league's first unanimous MVP winner when the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn, a sports writer who has covered the NBA for nine years, cast his ballot in favor of the New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony. The award is determined by a group of 120 sportswriters and broadcasters, and an online fan vote.

"I just honestly felt that Carmelo Anthony lifted the Knicks to new heights this season – a No. 2 seed and their first division title in 19 years – with an aging roster, the team's second-best player [Amar'e Stoudemire] out most of the season and a myriad of other injuries," Washburn told Yahoo! Sports.
"LeBron James is unquestionably the best player in the league, but I felt this season Anthony had more value to his team."

im not hating cause ive been done with sports

but lets be real ... what value do you have on a team of stars?

no hate for lebron im just saying, the name doesnt fit the award

its like saying who is the most valuable on the dream team, it wouldnt matter

^ depends on the team thats what I mean no hate

I was a fan of the blazers when they had pippen and sheed ... but they werent valuable, they were just a good team

but like the pistons with isiah ... without him they are nothing. That is value

look at what the thunder are without westbrook, he is valuable
if you took lebron off miami, they are still better than indiana

they should just call the award player of the year

this kind of logic is always mind boggling. if you are unquestionably the best player in the league, you are by fukking default the most valuable. theres really no two ways about it. its cut and dry

It's never that cut and dry with MVP awards though. The meaning of "most valuable" has always been sloppy and unclear. So writers get to make up their own definition for what it means.

It'd be easier if they called it POY instead of MVP.

He was on Mike & Mike and his reasons were legit even tho I don't agree with him. He was going solely on the definition of MVP and not the best player in the league. He pointed out the obvious examples of 93 & 97 when Jordan lost to Barkley & Malone.

I don't think writers should be allowed to vote for any awards in any sport.

Value in terms of what?

vs. pay?
vs. last year standings?
vs. last year stats?

If this was Melo's first year with The Knicks and they weren't a playoff team last year I'd get it but c'mon
