Lakers once had Chris Mihm, Smush Parker, Luke Walton and Kwame as starters.

Why is this always Kobe vs Lebron? I like Lebron :leon:

Oh I aint eam goin atchu like dat brosephs. I'm just sayin Kobe bein in LA was/is/will always be FAR more advantageous than Bron bein in Cleveland. Bron wasn't go win jack shyt wit dat squad, whereas da Lakers (whether dey had dem few bums you just mentioned) were still gonna be in contention for a title.

Plus:

LA>>>>Cleveland

California>>>>>>>>Ohio

Playing on a championship contender team infront of A-list celebrities every nite in da second biggest city in da country>>>>>>>fukkin Cleveland :skip:

So when cats try to bring up how Kobe spent all his career in LA....I mean....it's da fukkin Los Angeles Lakers breh. :yeshrug:

Kobe gets Lebron his first gold medal after only getting a bronze.

..

Ya'll nikkaz kill me with Lebron getting bronze in the 04 olympics like he was leading the team to bronze. He was just coming off his rookie season. Ya'll act like nobody else was on the team. First off, he was coming off the bench, secondly ya'll act like nobody else was on the team. Iverson was there, Marbury, Duncan, Lamar Odom and Rich Jefferson. That was their starting line up. That shyt looks trash already. They had Shawn Marion, Stoudmire, Melo, Boozer, Wade and Okafor coming off the bench. And OKafor wasn't even in the league at the time. That roster on paper looks very mediocre already without Melo, Wade, and James as rookies and coming off the bench.

Any team with the starting backcourt of Iverson and Marbury is doomed to fail from the start and ain't none of them nikkaz passing. Therefore they were the leading scorers along with Duncan.

No Bron hate, but what about the 2006 world championships? :jawalrus:

Yeah Lebron, Wade, and Melo were more established then, but the roster itself wasn't much better. Melo and Wade were the leading scorers first off, Lebron was more of a facilitator, playing point forward. Chris Paul was a rookie, Dwight wasn't any were near his beasthood (averaged 13 minutes a game along with Bosh), Joe Johnson (meh at the time), Elton Brand (never lived up to the hype) Hinrich (do I even have to explain, and he played the 5th most minutes), Brad Miller (really?), Shane Battier (really?), Antwan Jamison (really?).

Now compare that to the 2008 roster
Kobe, Lebron, Deron, Dwight, Wade, Chris Paul, Bosh, Melo. These are all established superstars at the time, (top 3 at their positions in the league) within their prime and then an all star in Boozer. The Complementary pieces in Michael Redd (sharpshooter), Tayshawn Prince (Defense, 3's) and Jason Kidd (pass first point guard with decent defense who can hit 3's). Even without Kobe, this team would slaughter the 04-06 Olympic and FIBA teams.

dont rewrite history

they lost to Greece in the semifinals

Melo was the best scorer, but Lebron was the best player

that team was favored to win gold in 2006 and were mollywopping teams in that tournament until the Greece game.

That team should have never lost to Greece. I could see if they lost to Spain and you pointed those things out, but it was Greece. Their best player was a 300 lbs 6'8" cat. That USA team were favorite to win gold and left with Bronze losing to an average Greece team.

Stop comparing Lebron's situation to Kobe's. Lebron left. Kobe didn't. That's the point at the end of the day. You think Cleveland would've cared if Bron bytched to radio & ESPN, then stayed? :rudy:

May 27th, 2007 - Kobe demands trade
May 30th, 2007 - Kobe retracts trade demands
Feb 1st, 2008 - Pau comes to town

That's a long ass time in between. 9 months of hoping the GM really listened to you.

Kobe didn't have a choice though. He only stayed because he wasn't a free agent and his only way out of LA was to be traded to another depleted team.

I don't see how anything I said was rewriting history. And we've seen how far teams where Melo is the best scorer have gone throughout Melo's career. Absolutely no where.
It's true that they should not have lost to Greece, but its a one and done tournament. It ain't a series. Any team can get a victory on a given night due to various scenarios and circumstances. Even the 92 dream team lost to a team of college players, scrimmage or not a L is a L. So like I said, anything can happen in one game.
