And I'm a Bron stan. He's as much a part of the problem as anyone else on their roster. He plays the most lackadaisical and unaware defense in the league. He's worse than Harden in the defense department. Now that doesn't mean he can't play defense, that just means he doesn't even try hard. Cavs need to cut his minutes significantly. He has old legs and they're making it worse by playing him so many minutes. Give him less burn to see if he can give more effort on defense. And if he still doesn't play with more effort, Lue need to bench his ass.

He should be putting forth a lot more effort at it.

But be realistic here for just a moment. How many players do you expect to go out and bust it on the defensive end in their 15th NBA season?
More like how many person with his mileage is still expected to dominate both side of the floor

Putting up close to 30 on 60%.....give the man a rim defender

This is the issue. They expect him to be the center of their universe on both ends of the floor and can’t function without him on either end, and it’s been that way since he went back. You can’t ask a 15 year veteran with 51,000 minutes to anchor your defense and be the teams leading facilitator and scorer. There’s a reason all the other greats weren’t given that much responsibility at this stage of their careers. It’s asking for trouble, no matter who the star player in question is.

Well, I think those are 2 different things.

Can you expect a guy with Lebron's mileage to burn the candle at both ends? No.
Do the Cavs need a better rim protector? Yes, but that's not excusing Lebron's effort on his man.

He should be balancing out his effort more equally, that doesn't necessarily mean he has to "bust it" on defense for every single minute he's on court - just play in accordance to what the team needs. That means lessening his offensive workload (which he can, the team has more than enough offensive players to pick up the slack), and start increasing his defensive workload. We all know LeBron probably won't do this, as it'll mean he has to sacrifice his #s.

You're probably overrating the offensive capability of the Cavs outside of Lebron.

That's partly been his own doing. There's a reason why it's taken him 14 seasons to say he was "ready" to hand the keys to someone else (which we all know wasn't true because he was still going to be the one who was driving)
