NBA owners are cut from the same cloth, there's no denying that. Obviously the structure of the sports are completely different though, 53 man rosters vs 14 makes it much easier to cut bait and move on from players for reason x, y, or z.
As a result NBA players have more power by default. The NFL is also no where near as interested in/good at marketing individual players as the NBA is. They don't want individual players becoming bigger than the league period.
