This is all really tying back into the 'better record' argument + some members of the panel would no doubt weigh that into consideration (plus endless amounts of advanced stats). I mean with each season, statistical value (in all sports) gets broken down further and further.

The problem there is that the Heat have been better against the West this year than they have the East, they're 16-9 vs the East and 15-5 vs the West. I know that the people voting wont really go in depth with that type of thing, but if they did they'd see Bron's numbers are pretty much the same vs the West.
