LOL...it was a provocative, only on the internet, argument --- ones I try to avoid.

My biases guided me because Im a huge VC fan, and I feel hes gotten a bad rap, while I feel Dr. J is overrated. But I had no business comparing VC to an all time great, no matter what my subjective preferences are.

I could have at least had the decency to compare Dr. J to a great from this era like Dwade or something :damn:
you gotta know when to hold them
know when to fold them

I respect you for realizing you made a mistake and backing out. If only other cats on here were like that.

Now that's a player who will have a weird and inconsistent career narrative among casual fans. I think some will overvalue him depending on how many rings he ends up with , while others will diminish his all-around excellence because of all the whistles he got against the Mavs, playing with Bron, playing with Shaq, and playing on some terrible Heat teams when he had little help around him. I really think Wade will end up shorted in a historical sense.

Vince... I've had a lot of debates and discussion about this with friends of mine. I have always said Vince Carter was a better player than Kobe Bryant, with more potential for greatness. Kobe had the drive though, that uncanny, singular focus. And he ended up a much, much better player. But Vince had once in a lifetime talent. I honestly think he was too good for his own good, because it allowed him to turn it off and on for so long. I also think he has suffered from some kind of depression or something throughout his career. When he grew the half-fro and was showing all that fire and aggression in those Olympics, I thought he was turning a corner, and the league was on notice. But nope.
