Overreaction to what?
to the East being "weak" or whatever the purpose of this new format
Changing the format would make a lot of these games more competitive and unpredictable. We had too many forgone conclusions in the playoffs.... March Madness is more exciting because how they set their formats up to make it completely unpredictable.
March Mardness is more unpredictable because it has one-game elimination tournament.

TYRONE GA!
The NBA shouldn’t have divisions

The NBA is the only sport where divisions don’t create rivalries

Nah, there are some. But I see the point. Thing is I think that will be the only way we can get a 1-16 to pass is if division winners are included. Gotta give sorry teams a chance somehow.

nikka get your damn facts straight in lebron's second season in miami (the lockout shortened season) wade played in all 49 regular season games + 23 playoffs for a grand total of 72 games....he played in every single game.
Dirk (a lesser player than lebron) was able to win without a premium second option which wade 3/4 years lebron was in miami. was so what's lebron excuse for not being able to do it in 2014 against a spurs team without a single superstars even with a hobbled wade and chris bosh it's still worlds better than what dirk had to work with

wade was in his prime up until the 2013-2014 where his play leveled off but he still was a above average second option on a championship team (i mean look at klay's numbers when the warriors won their first ring wade's were superior to that).....any statistical dip is simply due to giving the keys of the offense to lebron after the 2010-2011 debacle...had lebron not been there he would have put up his regular prime numbers as the 1st option

look lebron is arguably top 5 all time im not a hater though i hate his stans and feel compelled to balance their blind love with some harsh reality (i hate stans in general)...lebron was better than kobe who i like better than lebron....lebron is no mj no matter how hard it is for u to swallow....if he ever gets there i will gladly admit but chances are slim to none
Once again, you bring up Dirk's ring as if you, really we, don't also shame LeBron for choking it away. We cannot talk about what LeBron should have won but then act like Dirk raped the Heat for 6 games to get a title. Are we giving Dirk extra credit for some impossible championship or criticizing LeBron for throwing it away? Did Dirk take it or give LeBron give it away? Pick.

The Spurs had five players in double figures in the Finals, the vast majority of their players with significant minutes scored 50% shooting or better outside of Parker and Diaw who was 2nd in rebounding and led them in assists off the bench. Miami had 3 double figure players, 3 of the 8 players with significant playing time shot 33% or worse, Ray at 41.5%. Spurs shot well over 46% from 3 as a team. +5.6 rebound margin and +5.2 assist margin for the Spurs. Gregg Popovich >>> Erik Spoelstra, and the Heat were no longer a team able to trump that coaching with talent & ability. Long story short, the Spurs were the better and deeper team. LeBron was able to produce, his team wasn't. San Antonio as a whole was on one.

Wade was not in his prime in 2011-13. I will say this as many times as necessary. LeBron was the best player in Miami since day 1 in Miami...Wade still averaged over 25 that year and people were bringing up a 1A/1B narrative because the "LeBron isn't clutch" thing was still going on. Wade's numbers fell after that because he did, LeBron shed the choking rep because 1) his ability, 2) there was no more 1A/1B possibly. You will keep holding on to this prime Wade shyt to push a narrative that they should done something that hasn't been done in 50 years and won't be done again but the only person(s) putting 2011-13 Wade in his prime is you and the Kobe stans you swear you are not one of.

LeBron is top 5, and according to you, better than the man worshipped by the threadstarter? Then there should be no need to bring up "harsh realities" because most people on here who are fans of him work within it, at least as much as possible. LeBron does shyt I don't always care for (could've stayed in Miami, lobbying for horrible contracts for TT/JR/Shump, not keeping team chemistry issues as in-house as possible) but as far as on-court play and success/failure he seems to never be given any context other greats are afforded, or fans/stans of other greats act as if their favorites never failed like they didn't see first round knockouts. Most LeBron fans/stans do not have him over Jordan, at most you'll see arguments over who they'd take in some fantasy draft but not too many push him over Mike on the GOAT debate because the GOAT debate is based on resume. Nobody, or at the very least nobody pro-LeBron, brought up Jordan in this thread but you so I guess you've revealed who you actually do "stan".

I bring dirk up not to shame lebron for 2011 but to shut down the "lack of help" and the "you need more talent to win a championship nowaday" if dirk can do it no excuse for lebron

the spurs had multiple players contributing because they played an equal opportunity ball sharing i'll pass on a good shot to get my teammates a better one offense...not because they had better players than the heat....had lebron sacrificed some of his numbers and bought in that kind of system there's no doubt in my mind he'd have enjoyed more team success....

to argue that wade was in his prime from 2011-2014 is just semantics....even if he wasn't he still put more than adequate numbers for a 2nd option playing next to a high usage player so no excuse there either

lebron's stans are trying so hard to elevate him to a status he doesn't belong in which is the GOAT level....they will come with all kinds of excuses and caveat to put him in that tier and im glad u can admit his resume is well short...he's got a solid case against anyone but jordan and russell who's my pick for GOAT btw so if u accuse me of stanning a player that player would be bill russell

Once again, did he win because he was a worldbeater or because LeBron choked?

LeBron is the only player in his prime asked to "sacrifice" numbers for players like Norris Cole, who isn't in the league, Rashard Lewis, who isn't in the league, Ray Allen, who was in his final year, Mario Chalmers, who can't even start on a tanking Grizzlies team. The Spurs had he better team. If you think those players were a better cast than what San Antonio had I don't know what to tell you.

We've already established Wade was a great 2nd option. Wade in his prime is far beyond a great 2nd option.

Being a GOAT tier player does not mean literally being THE GOAT...LeBron is top 3, which out of the number of men to sign to an NBA roster, is A GOAT level...and a player who couldn't average 20 PPG isn't ahead of him. Sorry.

Dirk won because he was the best player on the floor and by making his teammates better thus allowing his teammates an putting them in a position to succeed

Im sure a guy like prime chris bosh could've contributed more than 16 pts and would've enjoyed getting the ball in his prefered spot instead of being just a spot up shooters...and you put guys like patty mills and boris diaw and ginobili on the heat instead of chalmers allen and lewis and im sure you'd be here today telling me how shytty they were...........they Spurs were the better team because the players they were put in a position where they could contribute not relegated to being spot up shooters for lebron

There's level to this shyt and lebron is not at the highest level no matter how hard u try...he has no case against jordan & russell he's a tier below thus he's not GOAT level...and if you think a player can't be goat because they didn't average 20 ppg u truly clueless about basketball...first russell could get his anytime he wanted!!!! He admitted he made the conscious decision to involve his teammates and focus on the little things that in the end more often than not decide the outcome of a game...he was a great leader of men and had the GOAT bball IQ of any player ever! are you gonna argue with the results 11 rings in 13 years u better put some respect on his name...and don't even try to play the rings don't matters card when lebron's whole career is centered around putting himself in the best position to win them

Top 3 = GOAT level.

LeBron > a player who never scored 20 a game in a 12 team league with 6 and 7 HOF players on his team at the same time, while having 1 playoff round before the Finals.

Sad I gotta do this because I respect Bill Russell but I'm tired of the dumb shyt.

Jordan
Kareem
Bron
Magic
Wilt
Hakeem
Duncan
Shaq
Kobe

He ain't top 10.

Let me show how bias and media hype creates bullshyt arguments and narratives:

When he retired, Kobe Bryant was the ONLY player in NBA history to have 30k points, and both 7k rbs and 6k assists. He also was all NBA Defensive First Team Nine Times. Lebron, if I'm not mistaken, achieved this five times.

Kobe achieved these numbers, despite playing his first eight seasons with the most dominant physical presence since Wilt Chamberlain. Even then, he didn't start his first two season.

Now, despite certain handicaps that made putting up all-time great numbers considerably more difficult, he still achieved those numbers.

Why isn't Kobe ever said to be better than Jordan or top three to five?

Kobe is 5 for 7 in the Finals.

He put up all-time great numbers, and he won more than he loss.

Yet, with Lebron, the only argument they will bring up is, he will have better numbers than Jordan.

Kobe's totals ended up being higher than Jordan's, just like Lebron's will.

Jordan average thirty, and Lebron won't average 30, obviously. Lebron has rebounding and assists. Jordan won Defensive Player of the Year, and Lebron never did. Jordan has more All-NBA Defensive Teams. Most importantly, if Jordan made it to the Finals, he won.

What am I saying?

Why are stats used to prove Lebron is better than Jordan, but stats aren't enough to prove Kobe is better, as good, or very close to Jordan like people claim with Lebron?

What is going to happen is, Kobe's career is going to be nitpicked, like I can't nitpick Lebron's career to death. They ALL have things that can be picked at.

But for Kobe to not even be in most people's top 5, when he has the numbers, and the Defensive Awards that showed he was elite on both sides of the ball - proves that most of these All-Time Rankings come down to who the media anoint and who they do not.

Because he Knows his team will be in real danger of not qualifying for the playoffs and even if they did, the road to the final will be much tougher. he's a smart guy (or p*ssy depending on your interpretation) taking the easiest path to success by playing his entire career in the trash ass east.

With the proposed change, he knows he will have to face teams like GSW,Rockets, OKC, spurs, wolves, trailblazers etc on his way to the final. who needs all the extra work when you can just feast on weaklings in the east instead
