fukk outta here with this dumbshyt....LeBron is that dude now, he's the best player in the league now but, it was never set in stone that LeBron was better than Wade before. When the '03 draft class came in the league, and I remember this very clearly, everybody was on Bron & Melo's nuts. Melo went to the playoffs that year, Bron didnt make it. Wade was a nobody. Then the next season or so, Bron pulled away from Melo popularity wise. Wade was still a nobody. Then Wade had his title run in '06 and did it putting his team on his back. People were  at this dude Wade coming out of nowhere. That was 2006. The consensus around the hood was, who the fukk is this kid :patrice: 2007 & 2008, Wade had a lot of injuries but, in 2009, he was :lupe: People were definitely putting Wade up against LeBron in the mid-late 2000s. And mind you, Wade had his ring, while LeBron was still choking every spring. Dwade stans had a strong argument. I can't stand you revisionist ass nikkas :rudy:

:comeon: You exposed yourself.

Wade went to the 03 final four and had a triple double vs #1 ranked team and was named mvp of his region

His rookie year he hit a gw shot in the playoffs vs the hornets and helped lead the heat to the 2nd round

Hi 2nd year he made the all star team and the heat lost in the 05 ecf and woulda won it but wade cracked his ribs in game 5

Wade was a nobody to only You.

February 14th, 2004: Sports Illustrated

Though neither player was selected for Sunday's All-Star game, James and Anthony are arguably the NBA's most anticipated rookie duo since Magic Johnson and Larry Bird -- and in a game mercifully free of defense, they put on a show worthy of the hype.

"It was great to be out there with a good friend," James said.

"I feel good just being out there with LeBron," Anthony said. "It's really special."

December 2004, USA Today
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/games/2004-12-03-cavs-nuggets_x.htm

The friendly rivalry with LeBron James turned into an embarrassing debacle for Carmelo Anthony. James had 17 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and one thrilling windmill jam Thursday night to help the Cleveland Cavaliers humiliate Anthony and the Denver Nuggets, 92-73 in front of a booing crowd at the Pepsi Center.

November 2003, ESPN

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?id=1654429

CLEVELAND -- Russell vs. Chamberlain. Bird vs. Magic. Jordan vs. Everyone.

Rivalries have always given the NBA some extra bounce. On Wednesday night, another will be born.

This one pits a pair of the league's most talented rookies -- good friends who have received rave reviews after playing just a few pro games.

And Cleveland's LeBron James and Denver's Carmelo Anthony can't wait for the opening tip.

"I'm looking forward to it," said James, the Cavaliers' 18-year-old guard.

"You know there's going to be a lot of hype," Anthony said.

More than 20,000 fans, a national TV audience and more media than have ever covered a game in Gund Arena, will witness the Cavaliers' home opener against the Nuggets.

It also will be James' regular-season home debut, and the former Akron high school superstar -- and No. 1 NBA draft pick -- wants to put on a good show.

"A lot of people are going to be here," said James, who has averaged 18 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists in three games. "I'm just here to show the city of Cleveland that we're a way, way, way better team than we were last year."

James grew up just 30 miles away, and he's expecting a large contingent of family and friends to be on hand: "Half of Akron," he says.

James and Anthony last faced each other in high school and have been trying to downplay any rivalry -- old or new.

"A lot of people are going to portray it as a LeBron-Carmelo game, but it's a Nuggets vs. Cavaliers game, and we're trying to go out there and win," Anthony said. "It's going to be on everybody's front page. I know that already. As long as I go in there with the mind-set of just trying to win, nothing can hold me back."

Bleacher Report

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...alry-between-lebron-james-and-carmelo-anthony

They were two young stars with unique and special abilities on the basketball court. They had recently played in a high-attention scholastic contest against each other. They were both selected in the same draft.

The LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony rivalry was supposed to be the best individual rivalry since Magic and Bird.

But while the relationship between Bird and Johnson is dramatized in a new Broadway play, Anthony and James meet for the 15th time in their careers Sunday, and do so without much fanfare.

James and Anthony first met in a USA developmental camp in 2001. Much like how Johnson raved about Bird after they played together on a college All-Star team playing in an international tournament, James couldn’t stop talking about Anthony.

The two squared off in a high school showcase game the following year that pitted the player regarded as the best senior in the country (Anthony) against the one that was the best junior in the country (James), a game Anthony’s team would win.

After Anthony spent a year at Syracuse and James finished his high school career, both were selected in the 2003 NBA draft, James first overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Anthony third overall to the Denver Nuggets.

The rivalry was supposed to take off from there. Both were top draft picks and successful scorers. They both played small forward and could match up against each other.

The similarities continue throughout their careers as both played together on the previous gold medal-winning Olympic team and inspired much dislike from fans after the ways both players went about changing teams.

The rivalry, however, always felt forced—unnatural.

I can pick articles from Google Archives all day :beli: It was Lebron this, Carmelo that. The NBA, the Media, everybody in the hood.....everybody was focusing on Carmelo and LeBron :beli: They were supposed to be the new Magic & Bird. People weren't checking for Wade until 05, but mostly by 06. That was the whole point of the world being shocked when Wade got his ring first. Everybody was expecting Carmelo or LeBron to have won theirs first :patrice: I'll let you tell you though........Wade was always included in the Carmelo/LeBron discussion. Everybody was giving Wade the same amount of attention. Eventhough NBA coaches repeat my point verbatim :heh:

May 2004, MSNBC

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/4925825/

The Heat is the surprise team of these playoffs, and it’s Wade who has helped motor this season by being the surprise of the rookie class. Everyone expected LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony to be great rookies. They were.

Denver coach Jeff Bzdelik, meanwhile, said, “What the media talks about LeBron and Carmelo, they really need to include Dwyane Wade. It’s a shame he flies under the radar.”

He had no shoe or NCAA title buildup. He was hurt for too much. He flew under the radar for obvious reasons all year.

But now look at him.
