when has this happened? you have to give credit to poppovich as well, his system inflates alot of production, word to George Hill, Boris Diaw, Patty Mill, etc. yall making it sound like Duncan be carrying the team when that hasnt been the case in a while. even last year, Tony Parker carried that team.
I meant to say you could put four bums around a prime Tim and they would contend every year. Pop is a great coach but let's not act like Duncan didnt make him look that good and wasnt a once in a generation type player. Tim was hyped from his freshman year of college and fulfilled and surpassed every expectation of him. And while Parker has been the best player for a while now, that team isnt making the Finals without Tim Duncan.

Everyone always wanted to see Kobe vs Lebron and tried to make them rivals. But no one ever thought that Bron would face Duncan three times in the Finals while we never got to see that Bron Kobe matchup that probably would have broken viewership records. It says something for Tim that even after losing a little bit a few years back he's still relevant and more than a presence when he's on the court. This series will probably be a 6 or 7 game series too and I cant wait. While the Thunder and Heat were the sexier matchup me as a basketball purist wanted to see a rematch of last years classic. Between the two best players of the 2000's if you ask me.

The notion of a LeBron vs Tim rivalry hasn't picked up steam because:

1. Timmy is in his twilight (as he was last year). He is nowhere close to the player he was in his prime. Not even close. He's no longer the focal point of his team either.

2. In 2007, LeBron was still far from the player he'd become, and his Cavs were viewed as an overachieving one-man show that was in the Finals only due to being in a weak conference.

3. Most people don't care about big men. The only sexy rivalries are between perimeter players. To the extent that people care about big men rivalries, it is only when it is between two big men.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Julius Erving were the two best players of the 70s. They met in the NBA Finals 3 times in 4 years. Yet nobody really talked about a Kareem vs. Doc rivalry.

The Bulls vs. Magic series in the mid 90s were never portrayed as MJ vs. Shaq.

But it's still a rivalry nonetheless. 2007 was the young gun getting shown how it's done by the master. 2013 was the young gun overtaking the master and now it's about seeing who can break the tie. They both may not have been in there prime at the same time but a 1-1 Finals record against one another with another to be decided is my defintion of a rivalry any which way you slice it.

Ur absoultley wrong about this

LOL @ the bullshyt shade being throw at Kobe in this thread.

Duncan is a great cornerstone to a team, but no way he's better than Kobe... I don't see it.

Duncan = Had Parker / Ginobli

Kobe = Gasol

Ginobli basically = a small version of gasol (comparatively speaking)

Kobe never had a Parker (stole a finals MVP from Duncan) in his 2nd run.

Duncan on a team with Ginobli and no parker wins 0 titles

Kobe won 2 with no other Parker esque Big Man (Bynunm COULD'VE been that, but he was always hurt)

nikkas be wack as shyt wit the kobe slants

C/s nikkas acting like kobe never existed since he's been hurt

He's absolutely wrong about Bron/Duncan > Kobe/Shaq?

:dahell:

Yes lebron is not better than kobe on the 2000's neither was duncan he has a better case tho. And Shaq was better than duncan in his prime. Its disrespectful to think other wise
