That's what I really wanted to happen too. But I think in LBJ's mind, in the end he was betting on Embiid/Simmons/Fultz to stay healthy and play great and on the Sixers to work well as a organization. If injuries or mismanagement screwed over the situation, then he goes into his late years with nothing.
On the other hand, in LA he can tap into all his other projects from the best locale while joining a team that has the space and allure to draw in proven players in addition to its own promising young players. Even if the young players don't work out, even if the proven stars get injured, he still puts himself and his family in a good position.
For purely basketball reasons I would have preferred Philly, but I get why he did what he did.
(Ultimate bet would have been Boston landing Kawhi with a Kyrie package and then LeBron forcing Cleveland into a trade for a Gordon Hayward package.

There's very few players that I think could consistently go off on MJ pause, probably just Kobe and Bron
Bron just added himself to that list in my opinion, his shooting and post game have greatly improved from when he was younger
But don't ever sell MJ short, he was a different type of nikka. There's only one Mike, he was more ruthless then anyone and had no heart when it came to how he treated others
