I had the misfortune of being exposed to this so-called rap artist's videos while sitting at an airport bar and nursing a beer before departure time. Rather than finish my drink quickly and leave, I decided to set aside my prejudice against gangsta rap, take my time, and check out why this guy was so popular. I remained open to the possibility of discovering for myself that he was, afterall, talented. What I witnessed, in three succesive, boring-to-tears videos, was the same ol gangsta cliches of agressive, monkey-see-monkey-do posturing, garish jewelry (since i'm dull and lusterless inside, i can at least wear shiny garbage on the outside!), glorification of trafficking soul poisons, glorification of money (since i'm seriously bankrupt on the inside, i can at least throw alot of green around on the outside!), and all of this while a bevy of airhead, slave chicks - acting like little more than slabs of meat with eyes - pranced around the so-called artist. There should be a picture of lil wayne next to Misogynist, in the next edition of Webster's. Seriously, lil narcissistic wayne possesses about as much imagination as a lug nut. But a lug nut, by contrast, actually serves a purpose in the world. If real art is the salt and leaven that animate the imagination of the young, then stuff of the kind that lil wayne produces is like dog barf that someone has thrown in the batter.
