I think it's a decent idea.

Whilst the okayplayer boards have horrible 90s formatting and some bitter dusty backpackers, I've always liked how they combined discussion of all genres and had a more respectful tone that encouraged deeper discussion.

Only problem is it being a subforum. Subforums rarely become popular. I guess there's a couple of exceptions like TSC but generally people ignore subforums.

because honestly there wasnt enough activity in left field to justify that happening. there were threads on the first page from weeks ago and most of the threads besides a few had less than 10 replies. we're hoping that @porque will sticky new music that isnt hip hop and that the extra visitors that are coming for hip hop will end up checking out some of the left field type music and getting those threads some extra activity.

It won't work. Sub forums never do. It's crazy but it seems like you'd rather make a sub forum then just keep a few trolls out of the booth. You're going to let a few trolls mess up all the hard work you did.

TSC has weekly programs plus PPV's constantly on with news going as well. The GYM is the only place where the subject is talked about for that stuff. It doesn't have two seperate forums like the music does now.

It's your site. I mean do you. It just seems like there's been a ton of posts lately about trolls ruining the booth. It seems to me (just viewing from the outside) that the answer was a sub forum and to let the trolls continue overdoing it.

I hope it works out though. I'll try to post in there. It's just my opinion that it usually doesn't work.

It wasn't made to just let trolls take over the booth it was made because there's a pretty wide gap between mainstream hip hop and older eras/underground. If people want to talk about Drake and Kendrick all day then that's fine, we're not going to censor that but we will do something to help other threads not get pushed to the second page instantly which is give them their own space
