This experiment hasn't worked so far:patrice:

I think coming out the gate, the campaign really had people going crazy with the expectations.

They were impossibly high after that, so that was gonna be tough to meet. Then you have to factor in that Mass Appeal has limited budgets for these projects, so it's not gonna be like what these artists enjoyed back in the day on their labels. These are also all legends used to doing things a certain way, and not really wanting to spend too much for albums that might not sell well.

The music so far has been decent, but the dope sh*t is seeing the older legends still dropping music. If we can normalize that, then that's a win for Hip Hop.

People got agendas man. Whether it be not liking old guys still being active or left over Jay Z stans mad Nas is doing something for the culture. All the, "Er, um . . . well actually . . . " shyt is not genuine.
Respectfully disagree.
There is almost no barrier to releasing an album in this era.
Artists can and do drop dozens of projects in a year if they feel like it.
The Legends Series felt different when it was announced. A lot of people had really high hopes that it would be curated quality projects. Whether that was realistic or not is up for debate as is the quality of the projects released so far but let’s be real here the momentum and hype have died down completely which has left many fans feeling disappointed.

Why did it 'feel' different? Does Mass Appeal have some well known track record of only releasing quality albums superior to every other label or something? I never heard that. Where did the feeling come from?
There was never any huge hype if you want to, "be real here". These are a bunch of old school acts and the promo was minimal. It seemed like all the Slick Rixk promotion came after the album had been out. Rae barely did anything promo wise for his album. Ghost is the only one so far out here doing a lot of press and hyping up the album before it actually dropped and the reception has been decent.

Yeah but being such a common word for a legacy, being the last Mobb album ever, Prodigy being gone, theres no way you would take that as biting...
Not saying it's biting just funny how these vets are projecting lasting forever. They are all seminal so it fits just made me laugh they were thinking on the same wavelength.

Their joint 11 years !!! ago had tracks with names like Legendary, All a dream, Timeless, Get it FOREVER, so we kinda knew even back then the Mobb wasnt gonna flood the streets anymore as a group.

But yeah the most of the OGs are towards semi retirement.

Undisputed top 3 duo in rap history though, nothing to sneeze at.
